Money alone doesn’t build fulfillment - alignment does.
A year ago, I walked into the Bloomin’ Blinds conference as a guest. This year, I walked in with my whole family, kids running around the venue, and not only was that okay, it was encouraged. That moment changed how I think about business. For years, I kept family and work separate. But what I saw was a company that had scaled without losing its values. They built a business that felt like home. That’s what drew me in, the people, the culture, and the seamless integration of life and work.
Not all franchises are the same. Some offer freedom, others structure. Some prioritize culture, others only revenue. If you’re not careful, you’ll choose based only on money. But money alone doesn’t build fulfillment, alignment does. The right business should support the kind of life you want to live. That’s the power of a franchise done right: it’s not just about owning a business, it’s about choosing a life you want to grow into.
If you’re considering franchising (or any new venture), start with this question: “What kind of life do I want to live?” Write down three non-negotiables -freedom, culture, income, flexibility, family integration- whatever matters most to you. Then evaluate opportunities against that list. Alignment first, money second.
